New Discovery!

Such a Sweet Surprise

Some nights you go out knowing what you are in for and then there are nights like this past Friday 19 May 2017 where a funny thing happened at a Living Colour concert. There was no opening act advertised, no word on who it might be so upon arriving and seeing the stage set, fans were left curious as to who would appear.

Up onto the stage at the Astor Theatre popped five young lads that seemed to have taken a wrong turn on the way to Comic-Con or some Cosplay event. Replete with superhero T-Shirts and caps these guys looked perfect for a Big Bang Theory episode. But then, they began to play....whoa...what the...who they!!??

Sweet Surrender delivering the goodness

With the energy of Blink 182 and the sound/stage presence that made you think Greenday and Linkin Park had been mutated by the Big Bang crew you suddenly paid attention. The band poured into their set showing craftsmanship beyond their years with subtleties and nuances that fit the superhero motif of the band.

Combined, the Douglas brothers (Vinny and Jimmy/Superman and The Flash) on bass and all things keyboard related respectively, with Batman/guitar slasher extraordinaire Chris Sama, of course Captain America, or is it a WWE persona, Beautiful Beau Haines bangin' the drums keeping things in check and round them off with that dude Mike Purea hittin' switches, playing with the pretty lights and rappin' thangs up (all with one arm in a sling mind you), Sweet Surrender ripped through their time one stage to the delight of the crowd.

Just when you thought these guys are worthy, they totally shifted dimensions with an interlude that featured a bit of Nelly and R Kelly....SaaaaaWeeeeet!! The are Superheroes! Or at least chameleonic musical geniuses!

A little interlude from Sweet Surrender
