No Foo-ing around as the Fighters conquer Perth
By ChuckE!
Perth 21 January 2018 - Fans at nib Stadium in Perth on Saturday night had the pleasure of witnessing rock royalty when the Foo Fighters kicked off the Australia-New Zealand leg of their Concrete and Gold World Tour. The Fighters brought along Weezer, a headliner in their own right and both were supported by local act Cosmic Kahuna .
After an energetic set from the aforementioned Cosmic ones...Weezer took the Stage...

The LA outfit, now heading into year twenty six in the industry did not disappoint whatsoever. The band is on the road again, introducing their latest album, Pacific Daydream from which they featured a few songs including hits Happy Hour and Feels Like Summer.

The consummate professionals, Weezer kept the crowd engaged and most likely won over quite a few new fans with songs from throughout their musical odyssey including Pork and Beans, Undone-The Sweater Song and a cover of Where Is My Mind by The Pixies.
In the end, Rivers Cuomo and crew lead a huge sing along to mega hits Buddy Holly and Say It Ain't So.

Given the setting, the band was as tight as ever, bringing forth memories for some fans and predictably impressing new ones that will follow them in the future.
After this leg of the Foo Fighters tour concludes, the band will embark on a tour with The Pixies starting in late June...catch them if you can, they are well worth it!

Dave Grohl launched the rocket that was a Foo Fighters experience with one simple question to the crowd:
Are you f**king ready?

Of course Perth fans were ready, willing and able to let the Foo's take them on a musical journey for the first time since the outfit closed out their 2015 tour at the same venue.
The band launched into Run to kick things off but is was third song Learning to Fly that sent the crowd into it's first frenzy of the night. Followed closely by Breakout and My Hero within the first twenty minutes, the crowd was well and truly in the palm of the bands collective hand.
There were a few teases, including a snippet of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen during band intros.
Mr Grohl
More highlights included Monkey Wrench and the role-reversal moment when drummer Taylor Hawkins swapped with Grohl to perform a jaw dropping cover of Under Pressure that would most likely see Bowie and Mercury smiling down on them in appreciation.
After a brief exodus, cameras showed Grohl back stage negotiating with punters for one, two, three, possibly four and what turned into a five song encore.
Of the encore songs, Grohl played the instrumental Ballad of The Beaconsfield Miners inspired by his meeting with survivor Brent Webb.
Rounding out the show Grohl played a cover of Blackbird before the rest of the band returned to wake up Perth with These Days and most likely the biggest sing-a-long the city has heard in quite some time with Best Of You.

Grohl did absolutely nothing on the evening to disprove the theory of him being one of the nicest performers on earth and the band equally could not dispel the myth of being one of the rockingest, engaging and entertaining bands...of all time!
Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland...batten down the hatches...a storm of epic proportions is heading your way!
