Talent unearthed during I-Sing Heat 1

Last Saturday night, I dipped my toes into the Karaoke pool for the first time in a while as something more than an infrequent singer, I had the honour of judging the first heat of the Western Australia round for the national I-Sing Australia 2017 competition at South Street Ale House in Hilton, WA.

 The best description of I-Sing as gleaned from their website:

 "Formerly called KWC Australia, i-Sing is the newest singing competition that offers the best platform for aspiring singers to showcase their talent."
"I" refers to oneself but also stands for International and the attachment to the word Sing brings it to oneself sharing their singing talent on an International stage. 
From the organisers of the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) this competition is set to be an annual event to showcase singing talent from around the world along with crowning an I-sing Champion each year.
I-Sing intends to gather the best singers Australia has to offer each year and put them onto the world stage to face the best from other countries to crown the champion.




Heat 1 is a progressive step towards the Western Australia title on the the Australian nationals with a pathway to the I-Sing world titles to be held in Myanmar. The date for the world championship 29 September-1 October of this year.

A talented group of nine singers competed for three chances to move forward into the semi finals with five in close contention for the spots. In the end Dave Norton-Wood with a rendition of Don't Bring Me Down, Sharyn Fleming with Hallelujah and passerby Carl Vecchio (who just happened to be at the venue for dinner with his family) Brown Eyed Girl moved forward to the semi final round. The singers who just missed out are encouraged to brush up and re-enter the next heat by all means.

 As for the next heat please note that Heat 2 will be held on Friday 12 May 2017 due to a prior booking of a band for the Saturday night. The heats will return to Saturday night on 20 May 2017.

 The South Street Ale House is a great venue for the contest, please come out and enjoy the entertainment even if you're not a participant. The meal prices are quite reasonable and there are always drink specials on so stop in and say G'day to Bruno and crew.

Market City Rocked on Saturday night With a free Saturday night up my sleeve for once, I ventured out to the  Market City Tavern  to catch a performance by  Amph/lett  (Divinyls) and  Bon's Salute  (AC/DC). After hearing bits about the bands for a few weeks leading up and I can't say I was disappointed in their performances. First up, Amph/lett featuring Tanya Harding on vocals flashed me back immediately to 1986 in New York where I had the pleasure of seeing the original Chrissy and crew for the only time. I-Sing Heat 2

Three Advance from South Street Ale House Heat 2 of the I-Sing Australia competition from South Street Ale House saw another three singers separate themselves from the pack and advance to the next round of judging. The margin was thin between the eight entrants on the night as each held their own during performances. The singers are competing for the right to advance to the West Australian State Championship, on to the Australian National titles and ultimately the I-Sing World Championship hosted by Myanmar in late September of this year. Foo Fighters nib Stadium 20-Jan-18

No Foo-ing around as the Fighters conquer Perth By ChuckE! Perth 21 January 2018 - Fans at nib Stadium in Perth on Saturday night had the pleasure of witnessing rock royalty when the Foo Fighters kicked off the Australia-New Zealand leg of their Concrete and Gold World Tour .
