Perth awash with Living Colour The Astor Theatre in Perth provided an intimate backdrop and solid foundation for the explosion of sound, energy and emotion that is a Living Colour performance.  In their first performance after the untimely departure of contemporary Chris Cornell  the band wowed from start to finish. They threw in a few teasers from their forthcoming album Shade (due out in September) to go with several of their timeless classics as they closed out their first Australian tour since 2014 and first Perth appearance in quite some time. For the fans of Perth, this night was more than a concert or performance, it was an event. The crowd had a mix of "there from the start" fans through to younger ones who've had the pleasure of seeing the band in recent years.    Mr Glover The Firm of Reid and Glover presenting their case as two of the greatest Appropriately, the drum kit of Will Calhoun had an Aussie theme with one of the bass...

New Discovery!

Such a Sweet Surprise Some nights you go out knowing what you are in for and then there are nights like this past Friday 19 May 2017 where a funny thing happened at a Living Colour concert. There was no opening act advertised, no word on who it might be so upon arriving and seeing the stage set, fans were left curious as to who would appear. Up onto the stage at the Astor Theatre popped five young lads that seemed to have taken a wrong turn on the way to Comic-Con or some Cosplay event. Replete with superhero T-Shirts and caps these guys looked perfect for a Big Bang Theory episode. But then, they began to play....whoa...what the...who they!!?? Sweet Surrender delivering the goodness With the energy of Blink 182 and the sound/stage presence that made you think Greenday and Linkin Park had been mutated by the Big Bang crew you suddenly paid attention. The band poured into their set showing craftsmanship beyond their years with subtleties and nuances that fit the s...

I-Sing Heat 1

Talent unearthed during I-Sing Heat 1 Last Saturday night, I dipped my toes into the Karaoke pool for the first time in a while as something more than an infrequent singer, I had the honour of judging the first heat of the Western Australia round for the national I-Sing Australia 2017 competition at South Street Ale House  in Hilton, WA. The best description of I-Sing as gleaned from their website: "Formerly called KWC Australia, i-Sing is the newest singing competition that offers the best platform for aspiring singers to showcase their talent." "I" refers to oneself but also stands for International and the attachment to the word Sing brings it to oneself sharing their singing talent on an International stage.  From the organisers of the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) this competition is set to be an annual event to showcase singing talent from around the world along with crowning an I-sing Champion each year. I-Sing intends to gather the best sin...
